Human interaction research across a number of UKRI/EPSRC funded research projects based at the UK National Robotarium and Heriot-Watt University

I have been a Research Fellow since August 2020 and a post doc researcher at Heriot-Watt University since March 2015 after completing my PhD there. I am currently (since Jan.2018) Experimental Lead for the Human Robot Interaction theme of the ORCA Hub project (Offshore Robotics for Certification of Assets), funded by EPSRC and industry leading, designing and collaborating on human studies. The aims of the hub project can be found at https://orcahub.org. There are over 40 collaborating researchers with more being recruited. Some are at the Edinburgh Centre for Robotics which is a collaboration between Heriot-Watt University and The University of Edinburgh. Others are in Imperial College London, University of Oxford, and University of Liverpool. Previously I was working on MIRIAM (Multimodal Intelligent inteRactIon for Autonomous systeMs) as part of HWU INCRA lab funded by dstl under the Defence and Security Accelerator theme, "Revolutionise the human information relationship for Defence". My research interests are: Human-Computer Interaction and Human-Robot Interaction; image-based emotion feedback, image summarisation, cognitive styles and intuition, promoting collaboration through computer supported cooperative work (CSCW) and user experience in visualisations of complex data.

Fully funded PhD scholarship in Visual Co-design Via Rich Crowd-sourcing- part of the Heriot-Watt CDI Theme (Creativity, Design and Innovation). Thesis defended April 2015. Graduated PhD in Crowdsourced Intuitive Visual Design Feedback from The School of Mathematical and Computer Sciences June 2015

Teacher of Computing: Teaching and developing courses for high school classes of pupils from age 11 to 18 (S1 to S6). Also first line pastoral care for those pupil groups.

The company employed 10 people, full-time, including myself. My duties included: sales; marketing; purchasing; sales and service management; property management; in-house computer systems programming.
