About David Roberson

Born into a family of 5, raised in the streets of Wyandotte County, KS in the 90s was confusing as a kid. Most of my friends only had one parent at home and currency to them was street credibility. See, both my parents were home, they both worked to provide a living for my siblings and I but my parents never built equity. They took care of us, in a sense maybe I was privileged.Fast forward, to graduating high school with no college degree I spent 5 years in marketing at some of Kansas City's finest agencies, another 7 years in technology and financial services working for the largest registered investment advisory firm in the nation. But then I saw this Exodus of thousands of Financial Advisors going out on their own because technology and the market are making it easier for them to do so. It was time for me to combine my skills to help these financial advisors get a jump start using a turnkey solution for their branding, website, and marketing presence. Because at the root of all this people like my mom should have had a financial advisor. But my parents didn't feel like they had enough assets to be worthy. Although that wasn’t true...See now, with this proliferation of Financial Advisors and consumer technology usage, there are more and more opportunities for advisors to target people just like my mom. Proceeds from our store go to support the work at Mission Adelante in Kansas City KS, a local ministry that serves immigrants and refugees from all places. Thrift was no accident. Many refugees come to the country with little more than papers. Thrift’s low costs allow people, no matter where they come from, to have the dignity of providing for themselves and their families and knowing that they are part of a community. There was also a need for a thrift store as resettlement was booming and there was only one other thrift store in Wyandotte County KS. Finally, thrift stores bring others together by functioning through donations, volunteers, and shoppers. And so, our mission drove us to choose thrift as a space where community could be uplifted, supported, and dignified by every person.
