Planning and dealing with major changes in the group’s operations which developed from being primarily in vehicle retailing and leasing in the UK when I joined (under the Cowie brand) to Arriva becoming one of Europe’s leading public transport suppliers, providing bus and train services in ten EU countries, following regular acquisitions across Europe. Responsible for creating an effective multi-cultural team to deal with these changes that developed from myself and four trainees based at head office to twenty staff spread across the Group’s locations with appropriate language skills, professional experience, knowledge and qualifications to cover all of Arriva’s operations.
