As a member of the Blackbaud operations engineering team I work closely with individuals and vendors across all facets of the company to ensure they have the infrastructure and solutions they need to continue building cutting edge software. My current responsibilities at Blackbaud include the management, architecture, and monitoring of our current NAS environment which utilizes EMC Isilon. Currently i’m responsible for managing over 3 Petabytes of data, across 3 data centers using these systems. I’ve been working with colleagues to reduce our datacenter footprint, as well as vacate EOL hardware and solutions. It’s part of my responsibility to participate in on call rotations where we are the final escalation point for incident response, storage issues, or any mission critical hardware failure.. I've been involved with the administration and configuration of different hyperconverged systems in our environments as well as the sizing and capacity growth needs for most systems in our infrastructure. Currently working with a wide range of hardware and solutions not limited to, VMWare, Cisco UCS, vBlock, EMC VMAX, XtremIO, EMC Isilon, Data Domain, Solarwinds, EMC Networker, Scalar tape libraries, Chef, and Grafana. Working recently to adopt the DevOps mentality with powershell scripting and programming theory.

Monitor backup and storage infrastructure for anomalies and respond accordingly. Perform regular maintenance tasks such as ensuring environments have enough media available and monitoring disk usage in global environments. Assist in break/fix issues for fiber switches, storage arrays, infrastructure servers, backup environments, etc. Coordinate with hardware vendors to ship replacement parts and dispatch field engineers if required. Currently working with a wide array of hardware including Quantum and Sun tape libraries and EMC CLARiiON, VNX, VMAX, Isilon and Data Domain storage arrays.

The primary focus of my position is the administration and troubleshooting of clients utilizing the CommVault Simpana backup platform. Provide enterprise class data protection services for Windows Server 2003 and 2008, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and Debian based linux distributions. Support both file system and database backups such as MSSQL, MySQL and Oracle. Configure advanced backups agents such as Sharepoint, Exchange Database Availability Groups and Oracle Real Application Clusters. Provide recommendations as to backup data retention, backup scheduling, and application upgrades.

Provided emergency hardware support as well as built out and configured servers for customers. Coordinate server maintenances and assisted other support teams to get issues resolved quickly.
