Co-Founder/External Stakeholder Engagement-Latin American AmbassadorPeacebuilding Initiative At The Graduate Institute Of International And Development Studies Dec 2019 - PresentThe Peacebuilding Initiative seeks to provide an overview of international peacebuilding, peace mediation and peace processes to the students of the Graduate Institute with a particular emphasis on the history of the notion. Considering that the field of peace studies has been losing importance ever since the beginning of the century, as it has been embedded in wider debates around conflict and security, the Peacebuilding Initiative will seek to address its core thematic domains and the main debates surrounding it. The initiative aims to take a critical approach to current research and policy approaches in the field and tries to engage with relevant practitioners. Further it will present a wide array of perspectives and the evolution of thinking and practice that are shaping the course of peacebuilding, peace mediation and peace processes. Thus, the Peacebuilding Initiative aims to provide a platform and a framework for students interested in the fields of peacebuilding, peace mediation and peace processes to access to the key stakeholders relevant in the Maison de la Paix, including academic and policy circles, as well as engaging with the research centers of the Graduate Institute, primarily the Power, Conflict and Development Centre, and local networks around Geneva, especially NGO and IOs that are involved in the study and/or practice of peacebuilding, such as the Geneva Peacebuilding Platform, Interpeace, DCAF and the Centre for Humanitarian Dialogue. Events which the initiative aims to undertake are panel discussions with staff from international institutions and organisations, lunch briefings, networking events and breakfast talks.

Area, ColombiaResilience and prevention of victimization and stigmatization risks in communities and populations in the process of reincorporation in Colombia. This includes the generation of trust and contextualization in each community. This implies: a participatory diagnosis and a map of actors, that allows not only the generation of information from the voice of the local actors themselves, but also establishing bonds of trust in the process. A survey to identify resilience capacities through an instrument to collect individual information that seeks to identify resilience capacities, and a consultative process with local establishment of relationships of trust and collaboration between the actors involved.

Community VolunteerAiesec En Colombia May 2016 - Aug 2016Moravia MedeliinMoravia has a unique history. For many years this area of Medellin was used as thecity's garbage landfill. It was constantly scavenged and roamed by the city's poor andstreet inhabitants. As years passed, these citizens decided to start building houses outof sheet metal and cardboard on top of the garbage and all of the land waste. However, the government did not recognize this part of the city as an official neighbourhood since itwas unplanned and the inhabitants constructing their homes on this land were consideredas invading public land. This resulted in the lack of access of public services, the lack ofpaved roads, inadequate infrastructure, no potable water, and worst of all the lack of statepresence. For the rest of the city, it is viewed as a deplorable, dangerous, and unwantedpart of Medellin. My time at this community was used to promote education with the fourprinciples of respect, tolerance, diversity, and peace as the core of my classes. -

Community VolunteerFundacion Poder Joven Feb 2016 - May 2016Medellin ColombiaAs a volunteer at this Foundation, I visited two vulnerable communities of Medellin. The community of Manrique is located in the Comuna 8 of Medellin and it is known forpreviously being home to the worst criminal activity of the city and of currently havingthe presence of armed gangs that control daily life of the individuals who calls thislocation home. The second location where I was involved with was 'Barrio Triste', or sadneighbourhood. As its name states, it is a neighbourhood in the center of the city thathas had its population saddened and torn apart by delinquency, poverty, and violence.Foundation Poder Joven has established to daycare centres in both communitiesto ensure that children from these communities have a place to go and be kids, Thefoundation provides the children with two meals a day and carries out various field tripsand ludic activities.
