I was the Medical Director for the Outpatient Department at this free-standing psychiatric hospital. We grew it within a year 10x by creating Intensive Outpatient Programs for adolescents and adults that included both in person and telehealth groups. We also developed and deployed Partial Hospitalization Programs for Adults and Adolescents.

This clinic specializes in the comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of children, adolescents and adults who have developmental disabilities, and /or severe emotional and behavioral disorders. Offering consultations and treatment via web-based videoconferencing since 2009. Providing consults to psychologists and engaging in collaborative treatment sessions that integrate psychotherapy and medication management. We have provided over 30,000 telehealth sessions since 2009 to patients at their homes, schools, and medical clinics.

Oversee and directly treat the most severely mentally ill children and adolescents in Honolulu Hawaii. Clinically supervise a team of psychologists, social workers and case managers to provide intensive in home and residential psychiatric treatment to hundreds of patients in the least restrictive setting possible. Closely collaborate with the schools, judges, and CPS to ensure these complex youth receive appropriate community based care and an education. Developed the Child and Adolescent Division's new Clinical Model of operations in 2012. Currently redesigning and deploying telemedicine within the Division to extend Hawaii's scarce mental health provider network across the islands more efficiently to improve provider distribution and patient outcomes in rural and underserved areas.

Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist 2003 - 2009Provided psychiatric services to children and adolescents with severe mental illnesses including comprehensive evaluations, medication evaluations, and integrated medication management and family therapy. These services were provided to the adolescent residential treatment programs at Marimed, Hale Kipa, and the Bobby Benson Center and the foster care programs run by Hale Kipa. The clinical population was predominantly children and adolescents, who have been neglected, abused, were often exposed prenatally to drugs and alcohol. They often suffered from attachment disruptions, drug and alcohol abuse, sexual trauma, severe affective disorders, developmental disorders, psychotic disorders, learning disabilities, eating disorders, elimination disorders, and emerging personality disorders. Completed a five-year integrated training program in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, General Psychiatry and Neurology, and General Pediatrics. Trained in both urban hospitals, outpatient clinics, rural schools, and rural medical care centers. Worked closely with Hawaii Department of Health Community Mental Health Center psychiatrists on Kauai, Maui, Molokai, and Lanai in clinical and school-based settings.Additional training received in the diagnosis and treatment of children with neuro-developmental disorders such as Autistic disorder and Asperger's disorder. Participated in the Pediatric Department's "Pono" clinic, an integrated teaching clinic that trains pediatricians, nurses, psychologists, and allied pediatric health professionals on the diagnosis and treatment of severe developmental and feeding disorders.
