Business Continuity Manager
Developed, and introduced an integrated Business Continuity and Recovery Strategy in line with BS25999. Gained corporate level 'buy in' thereby helping to ensure the resilience of a large and diverse organisation spread across London. Founding member and inaugural chair of the Higher Education Business Continuity Network (HEBCoN), an initiative which gained a high national profile with representatives from over 100 universities actively participating in driving business continuity planning forward using the BS25999 template. Led, developed and implemented the organisational flu pandemic plan to include the development and running of an organisational flu pandemic exercise. Initiated, and led a project with the Department of Innovation Universities and Skills (DIUS) to review and reissue national flu pandemic planning guidance for the Higher Education sector with ministerial backing and DIUS funding. Written many articles on emergency and business continuity including the Journal of Emergency Planning and Business Continuity, Blueprint and the Times Educational Supplement. I have been a regular speaker at major events (including the 2008 BC Expo) and formulated and led business continuity training and exercises for a range of partner organisations such as Kings College London. I also led the development of a five year strategy for the Business Continuity Institute London Forum.
Emergency Planning And Business Continuity Manager
Led a number of multi agency initiatives and chaired the following groups - The Local Resilience Forum County Risk Management Group, the Economic Resilience & Business Continuity Group, the CIPST project management working group (an initiative to recruit and train volunteers to support those affected by a major incident - this gained national Police recognition through ACPO) the Corporate Business Continuity Group and the District Emergency Planning Officers Group. The majority of these groups were made up of Category 1 Responders under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004, as well as local businesses and voluntary agencies.Provided management and strategic direction on the local authority's response to critical incidents and emergencies. Responsible for and led the organisation's media response to the 2005 fuel protests which included giving both Radio and TV interviews. Led the multiple evacuations of a Cambridgeshire village following the discovery of WWII bombs. Provided business continuity planning support and advice to Cambridgeshire County Council and District Councils, taking all of these through the business continuity lifecycle in line with PAS56 and BS25999. I developed and delivered related training programmes and exercises which included planning and participating in exercise 'Cumberland', a large scale multi-agency live CBRN decontamination exercise.
