Serves as an IT (Information Technology) Specialist (NETWORK) technician and System Administrator, providing networking (voice and data) and Video Teleconference (VTC) support and maintenance for Fort Campbell (FCKY). Responsible for configuring, operating, troubleshooting, testing, maintaining, and repairing cabling systems, switches, routers, domain servers, printers, and IP phones on the Fort Campbell Installation Campus Area Network (ICAN). Responsible for providing IT support End User Buildings (EUB) supporting workstations and other peripheral devices, Local Area Networks (LAN), Wide Area Networks (WAN), the Defense Information System Network's (DISN) Non-classified but sensitive Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNET), and Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET). Ensures systems are in compliance with Cyber Security and other DOD regulatory doctrine, policy and site accreditation plans governing Automated Data Processing (ADP) systems and data communications networks. Coordinates with other technical personnel at higher headquarters to plan, integrate, troubleshoot and maintain established secure and unsecure voice, data, and video networks. Provides a broad range of user support including LAN use, hardware and peripheral troubleshooting, and software installation. Incumbent is responsible for configuring, operating, troubleshooting and maintaining cabling systems, switches, multiplexers, routers, domain servers, printers, disk drives, etc. Employs sophisticated problem-solving techniques for discovery and resolution of network performance problems. Incumbent provides technical input to plans, including specifications, justification, and cost analysis of specific network hardware or software, for implementation or integration into existing systems and supporting networks.

Knowledge of network and IT standards and protocols to configure, install, maintain, inspect, and design network systems. Knowledge of commonly applied networking principles, concepts, and methodologies in performing independent work involving specified segments of large projects or taking full responsibility for well-defined projects requiring knowledge of standardized networking approaches, methods, and techniques. Knowledge of network systems and asynchronous networking equipment and the operations, performance characteristics, and relationship of component parts. Skill in understanding, evaluating, and translating installation user network requirements into viable and resourceful use of the network resources. Knowledge of Local Area Network/Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN) networking principles and concepts to assist in the development of LAN/WAN systems. Knowledge of network systems, architecture, and infrastructure to perform configuration management functions, evaluate their operational characteristics and advantages/disadvantages to identify the most appropriate and efficient systems to use to fulfill the requirements of the customers. Knowledge of GSA, DOD, Army, HQ, DISA and installation policies and procedures to ensure local installations do not violate higher headquarters regulations. Knowledge of standard IT equipment, services and processes to review existing contractual relationships for equipment/services, network requirements, compatibility with established commercial telephone systems, protocol requirements, and on-line security protection. Knowledge and skill in written and oral communications sufficient to prepare reports and present recommendations.
