Senior GI Consultant – Consultancy & Technical Services – November 2007 to date• Providing strategic direction and technical support to key customer stakeholders.• Demonstrating the benefits of Ordnance Survey products by developing customers’ and partners’ understanding of the value and application of geographic information within their business environments.• Engaging and collaborating with customers to influence and inform Ordnance Survey policies and strategies• Leading and managing a team of consultants whilst developing a framework for the team to work within. Also offering advice and personal development support as necessary.• Co-ordinating technical, business and process support to a range of customers and partners as well as Ordnance Survey Sales teams and Product Managers.• Leading the technical input to the Transport and Emergency Services sectors and be visible externally within the GI industry.• Leading on the creation of the technical, business and process story/value proposition e.g. case studies and especially for new or developing products and Services.• Managing larger, more complex projects often as lead consultant into a collaborative project.• Supporting account and product managers in developing strategic plans

• Champion ITN developments to ensure requirements are managed and implemented effectively.• Provide technical input to Product Strategy to ensure the proposals are technically sound, support the business objectives and meet the customer’s requirements.• Prepare, review and control the publication of the ITN product specification to ensure correct and consistent product creation.• Liaise with and influence colleagues throughout the business to ensure product requirements are met.• Provide technical advice to customer facing colleagues and customers to ensure technical specifications are clearly understood.• Support internal and external customers as required. For example Local Authorities, Central Government (DfT, Highways Agency, TransportScotland), Freight Quality Partnerships, and TransportDirect queries.• Responsible for ITN future developments. For example the creation of a database of speeds from Traffic Regulation Orders; a web portal for a national freight map; and a pedestrian/cycling network. Produce Prototypes and sample data using various GIS applications including ArcInfo and Network Analyst.• Recruit, manage and develop individuals within the team so that they have the necessary skills to deliver the business requirements.

• Develop the technical requirements and product specification for Land Use and PointX to ensure that business and customer requirements are fully understood.• Ensure that all content and quality issues are communicated to the business. Providing support and advice to the Product Manager and raising awareness through the Land Use Co-ordination Group (ODPM, DEFRA etc.) and with our PointX partner in the Joint Venture, Landmark.
