Worked with various groups to automate software installation, VM deployment, machine configuration, and continuous software deployment.Acted as a mentor and technical advisor for MSIS System Administrators. Provided advanced technical assistance with Red Hat Linux, answered system admin questions, and taught classes and informal discussions on Linux topics to increase the level of knowledge for our administrators.

Worked heavily with the system, increasing subscriptions to the system from ~500 to 1200 machines and incorporating new functionality.Oversaw the addition of new organizations to the Satellite service.As the College Hostmaster, coordinated the migration of the College from in-house ISC DHCP/BIND DNS system to a vendor supported IPAM network system. Worked with member departments to convert their computers to the new system with no downtime or need for rollback to the prior system. Implemented a Nagios monitoring system to monitor College servers through direct interrogation via plugins, SNMP, and other methods to determine state. This information is used for service notification and trend analysis.Worked with Research Systems Group team members to expand the responsibilities of the group from five servers and half dozen services to forty servers and thirty college-wide services.Designed and implemented a XEN based virtualization system in the College to migrate many college servers from physical hardware to virtualized hosts. Two years later, I migrated this XEN system to a Red Hat Virtualization cluster.Implemented a re-IPing of about half the networks in the College of LSA. This allowed for more efficient use of network segments, simplified DDNS deployments, and encompassed about three thousand IP addresses over the course of the project.server initiated restores, and tape disaster recovery.Worked with members of the RSG team to deploy a 1000 core Linux HPC cluster that is used by the faculty of the College for diverse research projects.Ensure the resiliency of faculty systems by working with faculty to determine backup, redundancy, and equipment replacement needs.Worked as a member of the LSA Security team, providing triage for compromised Linux servers and workstations and implementing College security policies on the Linux platform.
