I am a Professor of Biological Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech, based at the Hampton Roads Agricultural Research and Extension Center. I have a research/extension appointment with a focus on sustainable urban water management, particularly stormwater. Prior to coming to Virginia Tech, I worked for over 20 years in engineering positions state, local, and federal government, and consulting. My research work includes performance assessment and detailed process modeling in support of design of source controls or Low Impact Development (LID) for mitigation of receiving water impacts, optimization applied to control selection and design in the context of watershed planning, and integrating water conservation and irrigation management with stormwater management planning.
