Maui Recovery has reopened with new leadership and purpose. Owner David Naylor is creating his vision of a treatment center that combines traditional addiction treatment services with deep emotional work. Residents attend group therapy, family sessions, and individual therapy with CARF accredited clinicians at Behavioral Health Hawaii. Additionally, there are weekly EMDR sessions and three day long intensive psychodrama workshops every second week. They work hard and also play hard too. Waterfall adventures, snorkeling the coral reefs, night diving, scuba diving, surfing, and hiking are but some of the adventures they experience. The eleven-bed facility typically houses residents from 30 to 90 days.

All the bulky gear needed, such as your air supply, will be floating on a 4 ft. long raft on the surface and follow you everywhere you go. The air supply is provided by a hose connected to you by a harness and regulator. The hose allows you to dive to depths up to 20 feet, or whatever depth is comfortable for you.

In the eight months of running the pilot programs, I was responsible for treatment planning, counseling, crisis intervention, client education, referral, reports and record keeping.Designed and wrote the first therapeutic program in The Netherlands for youth with behavioral and addiction problems that combined 12 step facilitation and outdoor activities. Incorporated attending twelve step meetings during treatment as a transition step towards discharge. At the end of the nine month start up period there are plans to open the second location before end of 2012 and third location in 2013 to meet increasing number of clients given the success of this program.

Developed program content and treatment planning for 38 bed residential addiction treatment facility in Amsterdam, The Netherlands based on 12 step Minnesota Model. Facilitated opening of the first public 12-step Minnesota Model clinic in The Netherlands. Residential program officially opened August 3rd 2009.Supervised largest clinical unit (12 beds) for 12 months. The multidisciplinary team consisted of psychologists, nurses, psychiatrist and spiritual care therapist.

Total duration of internships: 3, 4 and 5 months. Initial two internships at male primary residential programs. Responsibilities included diagnosing, treatment planning, counseling and client education.Final 5 month internship at Hazelden Center for Youth and Family intake team. Carried own client load and was responsible for intake, screening and assessment. This involved responding to the initial phone call to the 24-hour helpline through conducting the initial assessment once they arrived in treatment.

Managed logistics for 150,000 samples annually from foreign factories to our European warehouse where it was sorted and redistributed to 23 showrooms throughout Europe. Organized seasonal showing of the new collections to the European sales force including workshops, fashion shows with models and presentations.
