Straddling the worlds of academia, horology, conservation and engineering, my occupational experience has been varied and unusual. It has included teaching and research roles in universities and running two businesses. I have also worked in the museum sector, carried out and managed two house renovation/building projects and had various voluntary roles, as well as being the main carer for my son.Since becoming the founding editor of the Journal of Population and Sustainability, I am largely occupied with my academic interests which range from sociology, anthropology, philosophy, politics and economics but also including a passion for natural science, engineering and technology. My research is mostly concerned with "big picture" issues around socio-technical practices and environmental sustainability and is therefore interdisciplinary. In particular I am concerned with behaviour change in respect of environmental impact. My broad range of experience, knowledge and interests enables me to effectively communicate across the usual divide between the humanities / social sciences and natural sciences / applied sciences.I also have a great deal of practical experience of project management, am an experienced and effective negotiator and have proven editorial skills.
