David joined Saltus as a partner in 2018 and is a qualified financial planner. He is a passionate advocate of the importance of sound financial planning in helping clients preserve wealth and achieve their financial goals. His clients, with widely ranging requirements, particularly appreciate his personal approach, attention to detail and advice with regard to retirement and inter-generational financial arrangements as well as the broad perspective that his long career in finance has given him. His career in finance began as an investment manager with Barings in London and Hong Kong where he managed UK pension funds and was a specialist in global emerging markets. This was followed by 20 years in investment banking serving global and UK institutions in the fields of investment strategy and UK, European and Asian equity markets. David is married with four grown up children and lives in Suffolk. Outside of work he enjoys running, sailing, maintaining his vegetable garden and has a keen interest in wine. Living near Newmarket he can’t entirely escape the racing world and is a member of the Jockey Club Rooms. He also enjoys the occasional game of golf and is a member of the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St Andrews.Sadly, as far as David is concerned, there has been a parting of ways with Saltus, and he is, for the time being at least, out and about, but very keen to keep in touch and continue, at some point, the immensely satisfying and privileged role he was enjoying looking after his clients financial wellbeing.
