Relying on engineer interviews and access to the engineers’ development environment, now creating, editing, and organizing the documentation for Game Engineering’s tools and processes. Focus is on documenting the underlying framework and tools for server side code and client side code. Tools are Confluence, JIRA, LucidCharts, Draw.io, and Smartsheet. The huge number of articles in disorganized spaces brought enormous challenges to reorganize the largest of MZ’s Confluence portals.

Also, advocated for improved writing quality in GlobalProtect documentation, improved Tech Pubs' writing standards, and improved inter- and intra-departmental communication. Wrote a detailed tour of Dtex's insider threat detection solution to clarify the technical confusion experienced by new customers and new Dtex technical staff. Target audience in particular consists of customers during a PoC and for new SEs. This guide starts with system health checks and continues through checking status of users and hosts, understanding log files, and then assessing high-risk behavior. Created a shorter version of this guide to serve as a script for a video presentation. Currently developing KB articles for the remainder of this contract.

2011 - 2012Working closely with Engineering, QA, TAC, and the Release Team, rehabilitated and updated (from 500 to 800 pages) a VoIP ShoreTel System Administration Guide. The functional areas documented in this guide are:- Configuration of headquarters servers and voice switches- Configuration of ISDN and SIP trunks- Configuration of IP telephony features, classes of service, fixed and mobile phones,- Voicemail synchronization with Google Gmail for Business using OAuth and IMAP42008Supported documentation in ShoreTel’s two technology areas:- For its Enterprise Contact Center, updated five GUI-centric books.- For its unified VoIP system, described how to configure a new line of voice switches and mobility features.

Until DeepNines closed, worked closely with Engineering to create the entire documentation suite, mostly from scratch. DeepNines used a proprietary implementation of open-source tools, such as Snort for deep packet inspection (DPI) and Clam anti-virus. Reading audience consisted of network administrators and teachers. The original writing included:An administration guide for the Hallpass Management system: Hallpass gives extended control over URL filtering to teachers or managers for the benefit of students or employees.Deep Nines software interfaces to directory services such as Active Directory.Configuration guidance for IPS, IDS, URL rulesets, and scanning of email and HTTP traffic for viruses.

During final 2 years at Cisco, worked on Layer 3 and Layer 4 technologies for the flagship IOS XR platform, the CRS-1. For the preceding 9.5 years, worked on Layer 2 networking technologies (ATM, Frame Relay, Layer 2 routing, and voice) and hardware installation guides (site planning guides included electrical and cooling requirements and standards-compliance for products and regular ISO audits for documentation).
