About David Sasaki

David Sasaki is a VP, Analytics and Insights at OpenAI. He possess expertise in data analysis, product management, sql, business intelligence, analytics and 5 more skills. Colleagues describe him as "I had the good fortune of working with David for almost five years both in Research and on the Products team. David has an uncanny ability to work with the ambiguous. He is naturally curious and always seeking new and authentic experiences. This comes through in his complete lack of fear in new situations and business challenges. Every challenge is a learning opportunity to David. He has a diverging learning style which allows him to see situations from multiple viewpoints. Bouncing ideas with David became a ritual for me. He also read, a lot, before reading became fashionable at the company. This meant that David would go from knowing little about a subject matter to the in-house expert in a matter of days. David was highly successful at finding innovative and unique ways to solve new problems and old. His recommendations eventually turned into solutions for both internal (e.g. rewards structure in Research) and external (e.g. network-based approach to peer group building) problems alike. Work hard play hard is as cliche as it comes, but in this case fully describes David. He often refused to leave work before finishing a particular design specification, and re-worked presentations over weekends until they were perfect. And of course that desire for perfection and authenticity comes through in his leisurely activities, as David would travel the world and spend fortunes on good eats. David is the friendliest and most approachable person I have ever met. He connects effortlessly with salespeople and engineers alike, with new hires and the senior management alike, with co-workers and clients alike. It is basically impossible to dislike the guy. Along with his innovative thinking style and superior work ethic, David Sasaki is AN IDEAL candidate to contribute to and lead any (especially cross-functional) teams.", "David can do it all; manage people, products, and processes. During David's tenure at Equilar, he developed innovative solutions to diverse set of business challenges including the creation of Equilar's patent pending Equilar Market Peers, pricing strategy, employee incentive plan design, and the launch of new products. When tackling a new problem, David has a unique thirst for knowledge and will take the initiative to study and learn completely new disciplines to help develop solutions to problems through collaboration with others and independent. The development of Equilar Market Peers is a great example where he needed to evaluate algorithms, leverage his existing knowledge of executive compensation, and collaborate with engineering to implement a solution. He can also be trusted to provide great restaurant recommendations!", and "Sincere. Energetic. Cheerful. Visionary. Philosopher. Writer. I worked with Sasaki in the same team developing a new product for more than 6 months. I was the tech lead and David joined our team as a Product Manager. He was coming from another team and was excited to work with him as I heard a lot of good things from other fellow engineers. Engineers always complain about incomplete specs from PMs, but not from Sasaki. He always had the answer or provide a solution or work-around in a short time. We work at a fast pace following scrum with an offshore team, so turn around time is critical. David would stay late so, we had our questions answered by next day morning. He even pushed us to create a very unique and useful UI component which is a combination of auto complete and multi select. His primary contribution to the product was the advanced search feature. The feature was a success as it met all client needs and we did not require to make any major changes even after a year. He spent a lot of time communicating and understanding users. Overall, I and my team would be very happy to work with David Sasaki again. I am sure he is even more wiser now with his new experience of travelling around the world."
