• Ensure that appropriate methods and tools for the planning, development, testing and maintenance of systems are adopted and used effectively throughout the Applications Portfolio.• Work with the Principal Manager, Applications Portfolio and the Principal Manager, Strategy & Architecture to set direction and lead the introduction and use of techniques, methodologies and tools, to match overall business requirements (both current and future), ensuring consistency across all user groups. • Promotes and ensures use of appropriate techniques, methodologies and tools.• Responsible for the tool lifecycle including changes, licenses and training.• Provides expertise and support on use of methods and tools.• Manage application and testing development process enhancements and tools delivery. • Develop 3-year roadmap for tools & processes, including timeframes, costings and risk assessment and ensure alignment with Transport cluster IT strategy and architecture. • Deliver the yearly roadmap plan and be responsible for issue handling, training and the related change program.• Provide thought leadership in development tools aligned with strategic direction.• Performs technical discovery, crafts usage models, constructs peripheral tool integration plans, and offers technical support/mentoring.• Ensures a consistent mechanism to manage and coordinate tooling and process changes across the Applications Portfolio • Supports end-to-end design, development, build, and deployment of the tools and processes.• Manages relationships with internal stakeholders and external stakeholders.• Develop innovative ways to maximize and measure reuse of tools and process enhancements to improve productivity. The DRIVES application is a mission critical system through which the Roads & Maritime Service delivers key services to the NSW public both through motor registries and over the internet.Job Role• Managing a team of twelve comprised of technical leads, system analysts and software developers.• Managing all aspects of operational support including major incident response, incident resolution and service request fulfillment.• Managing maintenance development projects for the delivery of production problem solutions and incremental application changes.• Resource management including succession planning, training and individual work development plans• Liaising with internal and external key stakeholders• On going design of operational support business processes including the development of supporting documentation
