I was a Senior Technical / Geological Assistant with 20 years experience in the petroleum industry. After this, I transitioned into teaching and now am back in the petroleum industry handling compliance matters. During my time as an assistant, my principal roles have been associated with data management of petroleum wells, writing and editing Well Completion Reports for Government and Joint Venture, as well as generating and manipulating maps for geological studies.I was highly skilled and experienced in mapping, data analysis and reporting. This has allowed my career to grow supporting Geologists, IT Professionals and Executives in their requirements. As a broadly skilled Senior Technical Assistant, I was pivotal to the provision of information which was heavily relied upon throughout the industry. My peers know I am committed and relied upon to delivering a high quality service, as well as being able to work very effectively within a team environment. I completed a Bachelor of Science degree (majoring in Geology, Geophysics and Applied Geology) and followed this up with a Master of Teaching. Although I was faced with the challenges of working full time, studying part time and eventually having children, I have achieved excellent results in the subjects which I have completed. My passion for Geology is also well known - both within and outside the industry. I developed a short 3-hour course “Geology for Non-Geologists”, which aimed at delivering a basic-level information sessions for people with no geological background. This has proven to be very popular with talks within Adelaide as well as numerous trips to the Brisbane and Perth Santos offices. I have also volunteered with numerous community events, such as participating in “Science Alive!” at the Society of Petroleum Engineer’s stall at Wayville Showground demonstrating how oil and gas is generated and the rocks that contain them. Teaching, mentoring and helping others was what I enjoyed the most and this was the reason why I transitioned into teaching. After one-and-a-half years of teaching, the right opportunity came up to transition back into petroleum and data / compliance management.
