I was the lead project engineer for the development of multiple armoured vehicle platforms. Responsibilities and skills included: 3D Modelling (Solidworks) - Direct CAD/CAE design eg’s include, hydraulic cab tilt system of a large armoured vehicle for a government client, heavy-duty axle reinforcement for armoured 4 x 4 platform, heavy door mechanisms, trim components, sheet metal and weldment stowage and mounting brackets, 3D printed components. Use of FEA verification for safety critical and/or high load components (internally and in formal customer reports). Integration of COTS/supplier IP hardware (eg gas struts, springs, body mounts, bushes, HVAC). Drawing, 2D & 3D (MBD) (Solidworks) - Extensive experience in drawing checking, design verification, tolerancing, facilitating and participating in detailed design reviews with senior stakeholders and clients across prototype and production phases. Project Engineering - Review and sign off of designs submitted by design engineering team to ensure successful prototype phase. Bill of Materials (BOM) management in CAD PDM and SAP database. Parts and labour costing for bid submissions. Concept sheet development. FMEA. Supplier & customer technical liaison. Creation of work instructions for production team. Largely working autonomously, examples of projects include Mercedes & Renault Armoured Truck variants, LC300 Toyota Landcruiser ‘bolt in vehicle’ armoured system, British Special Forces counter terrorist vehicles.
