With over 16 years’ experience as an Electromechanical Engineer the last few years have seen me move into a managerial role ensuring electrical, environmental and legal compliance.Current responsibilities include managing a maintenance team ensuring individuals competency on electrical equipment, high voltage, PSSR and live working. Prior to this I worked as an engineer on AC and DC electrical systems including; battery backup, standby generation, UPS, HVAC, compressed air systems, fire flood and gas detection and refrigeration.Qualified as an Authorising Engineer HV I manage a multitude of sites including issuing of authorities and permits, managing preventative maintenance and repairs and assessment of Authorised Person HV.Qualified to NEBOSH environmental standards I ensure that maintenance teams are working effectively to prevent environmental incidents. Where incidents occur I investigate these to identify route cause, arrange clean up and neutralisation and prevent further occurrences More recently I have been enabling apprentices to transition from trainee to engineer. This has been done through practical and written based competency reviews. There is also a good opportunity for coaching but above all the health and safety of the individual is the main driver.I believe my strength lies with getting the best out of people by being personal but objective.
