 Trains new staff members on USH policies and orients them to unit rules and regulations. Responsible for monitoring and observing patients; recording and reporting patient's/client's conditions, progress, behavior and activity. Review patient charts and follows individual treatment plans while encouraging and assisting patients in completing scheduled treatment activities and goals. Assesses situations and applies appropriate intervention to prevent or resolve crisis situations. Escorts patients/clients to and from various activities.

Work with the public, employees, and patients to find a balance between each to ensure a safe environment for all involved. Responsible for securing the buildings and granting access to approved employees and/or visitors to the areas they need access to. Assist with crisis patients by observing their activities and managing crisis situations as they arise, including appropriate use of physical restraints. Provide customer service by guiding or directing as needed throughout the buildings as well as provide safety escorts to parking structures. Monitor cameras, alarms, radio traffic, answer phone calls, and record all information in the E911 system during both calm and stressful situations. Patrol hospital grounds while being observant and pro-active by helping either in patient experiences or investigating suspicious activity.

Work the graveyard shift making sure all buildings are locked and secured. Check all buildings for problems and report on any incidents or suspicious behavior. Check security system monitors, fire systems and emergency systems for any malfunctions or problems. Answer phones and fill out paperwork as required for incident reports, issuance of access badges, and detailed daily activity reports of all activity. Assist the employees and public that are at that building and in need of assistance.

Observe and report on situations in the buildings. Secure all buildings and run checks at various intervals during shifts to make sure all is secure. Report any suspicious activity, as well as any problems that need to be addressed or resolved. Occasionally I am responsible to train new officers. We are there to look professional as well as be customer friendly to those around us.
