Sonic Healthcare generously offered me my old position back, based in Melbourne. I specialised in campus network design and construction, pathology and radiology networks, WAN design, and project management.

It was a long-held goal of mine to do a working holiday. I recently achieved this goal and spent a season at Silver Star mountain (BC, Canada), in addition to other travels before and after the season. This was a magical experience and one I'll never forget.The role was physically demanding but very rewarding. Building and maintaining a high quality voice & data network for Sonic Healthcare’s Pathology & Radiology business units. Sonic Healthcare is one of Australia's largest Healthcare companies. With nearly 1000 small branch offices and 200 Laboratories / Radiology practices, we had a very large network to manage. During my time there our team presided over a huge growth in the network, connecting all the small branches to a single national network, a major migration of the Laboratory / Radiology WAN services from Frame Relay to MPLS, and data centre upgrades (including Nexus 7000 equipment). I participated in several major projects, including the WAN refresh, DSL rollout projects, switch upgrades, large site redesigns; in addition to BAU work, Level 3 Escalation, and fault management.My time at Sonic Healthcare give me great experience in managing and maintaining large networks, implementation skills, project management, solution design for internal business needs, and building relationships with other stakeholders (both internal and external). Assisting Telstra Business customers with integrating their Telstra services & Cisco routers with their existing IT systems. Telstra would sell various solutions to Telstra Business customers which often included Cisco equipment, and we would help customers with integrating these new services, migrating to the new services, troubleshooting existing problems and maximising the use of their new products. This included building new Cisco networks, modifying existing Cisco networks and general IT solution design including desktops, servers, networks etc. This role also required us to build relationships with our clients, analyse business needs, then propose and sell a practical solution for their business requirements.Major Achievements+ Promotion to the Telstra Plus Leadership Team (comprising of CEO, Ops manager, Business Dev Manager, and 2 other Lead Engineers)+ Passing the CCNA exam+ Being a contributing member of a brand new Telstra department + Designing and proposing a number of complex business solutions, including an Internal Business Systems solution, Large Multi-site VPN networks, DSL rollout projects and others.

Sole responsibility for all IT matters throughout this retail business, including the head office and 40 stores.
