I started my career at Traction as an intern. I was tasked with internationalizing the administrative interfaces for the flagship product (then called simply, "Traction"). At the end of that term, I was hired as a full-fledged software engineer.Over the past 10+ years, there is almost no area of the Traction codebase that I have not worked on from the database layer all the way up to the client-side code. Here are some projects I worked on and some duties that I have had which may be of interest:- Maintaining and augmenting Traction's "Skin Description Language", a templating language that is used, e.g., to generate the HTML that drives all of TeamPage's UI- Writing user- and developer-oriented documentation for TeamPage including documentation for Traction's public SDK and other developer features- Integrating TeamPage with the TinyMCE rich text editor- Rewriting and refactoring many hundreds of Java classes to create a backend-neutral implementation layer for the public SDK- Completely rewriting the classes responsible for loading and storing configuration settings for user accounts, workspaces, the journal/database and the server- Rewriting and refactoring the classes responsible for bootstrapping and shutdown of a TeamPage service- Building out many areas of the Traction test suite- Fixing/addressing thousands of bugs and issues- Providing direct end user and/or IT staff support for customers -- via our support website, over the phone, or over screen sharing sessions- Rewriting and refactoring server- and client-side code for two different generations of APIs for custom forms- Completely rewriting TeamPage's export framework (concentrating on PDF)- Organizing presentations and activities for Traction User Group developer sessions, and other training aimed at developers in partner companies- Modifying existing code to properly observe Java concurrency requirements- Dozens of plug-ins that implement customer-specified customizations

Managed and executed IT operations for two small companies, including network setup and configuration, purchasing new computers and printers, keeping operating systems and other software up to date, general troubleshooting, etc. Assisted with two physical relocations. Also performed some facilities management duties, administrative duties (including filing paperwork for state lending and brokering licenses), and participating in the hiring process for my replacement.

As an intern in the Information Systems department, I was tasked with helping the IS team in any way possible. Highlights included helping the IS team get the most out of Microsoft Excel and other Office products by writing Visual Basic macros to automate complex calculation procedures; using Visual Basic to create a form for the rest of the company to use to issue requests to the IS team for equipment, troubleshooting help, etc.; and assisting in the maintenance of various IS services.PharmaCare is/was a prescription benefit management company, and a subsidiary of CVS, headquartered in Woonsocket, Rhode Island.
