Staff Sergeant, Team Leader
I was deployed February 2003 - April 2004 for Operation Iraqi Freedom / Operation Enduring Freedom as Team Leader over 7 soldiers. My focus was Veterinary Food Inspector 91R20. I was in charge of receiving subsistence for the largest post in Kuwait. I ensured all subsistence received, i.e. Dairy, Fresh Fruits & Vegetables, Baked Goods & Dry Goods, were of contract specifications as well as free of contaminates and received at temperature. The Main Dining Facility fed 18,000+ troops per meal and the Secondary Dining Facility at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait fed 2,000+ troops per meal. My primary job was to ensure no food born illness would take place among soldiers at 4 camps in the middle region of Kuwait. I lead a team which inspected trucks as well as storage conditions for subsistence and preparation of meals. My team also consisted of 2 Veterinary Technicians which assisted my OIC, Officer in Charge, with military working dogs and the removal of foreign animals found on and around posts in order to prevent the spread of disease.
