David Shook is an Associate Principal of structural engineering with Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP, in San Francisco. His work has spanned structural topics as diverse as performance-based seismic design, integration of multidisciplinary data integration and optimization, mass timber in high-rise construction, and deep sustainability. His design experience includes the design of several large scale iconic international and domestic towers as well as collaborations with students and artists. David co-authored a Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitats publication titled “Performance-Based Seismic Design Guide”. He is a frequent lecturer at universities and conferences both domestically and internationally.
