Chemical Gatekeeper
• Implement and improve the processes of the Chemical Dispensary Program designed to support compliance, strategic chemical procurement, and maximize utilization of onsite chemical inventory.• Leader of multi-site process improvement efforts in Chemical Management group; focused on instilling data analysis techniques and implementing cost/time saving changes; guide staff through implementation and documentation of process changes and their impacts.• Work closely with EHS to identify and correct gaps in hazard classification, storage conditions, and chemical hygiene. Assigned segregation codes, hazard classifications, and oversaw SDS management for thousands of unique compounds• Designed and shaped new processes in the Gatekeeper role, created work instructions, tracking sheets, identified key metrics benchmarks, and leveraged client feedback to improve and add to procurement and order support services.• Promoted synergy between functional groups, and improved utilization of services through onsite fulfillment of ordered or requested SIMS consumables, Invitrogen stocked items, Media buffers/solutions/raw materials, and stocked/library chemicals. Provide in-depth information to clients on the full range of services provided that are applicable to client needs.• Ensure regulatory compliance via real time monitoring of HMIS control zone limits for hazardous materials. Manage the Tax-Free Alcohol Program according to federal permit requirements; Oversee procurement of all DEA CA Precursor chemicals onsite• Research and determine product specifications, costs, lead times, purity/grade, etc. as well as place orders on behalf of research and ULS staff.• Provide troubleshooting and training within the chemical inventory system, and answer questions related to the Chemical Dispensary Program.• Subject matter expert in procurement related activities.
