• Selected into a competitive fellowship program to do in-depth research with a member of the engineering faculty.
• Developed a virtual solid model of a portion of a Roman Imperial Bath Complex using Rhinoceros 3D in order to obtain the most up-to-date computational model of the bath complex.
• Analyzed the structural weaknesses and stress distribution through the Bath Complex using Abaqus. This analysis determined possible modes of failure of this structure and helped explain methods of Roman-era engineers.

• Designed a solar concentrator which focuses approximately 1 kW of solar energy into small area using an aluminum coated Mylar fabric. A number of hypothetical models were modeled and run using Abaqus. Presented results.
• Investigated the effect of high intensity UV radiation on silicon impregnated nylon material, simulating long term exposure to the sun. Presented results in a public presentation and cumulative paper.
• Researched the behavior of yield stress fluids under uniform stress distribution, using MSC NASTRAN/PATRAN in order to derive an analytical solution for the flow behavior of the fluid. Presented results in a final.
• Analyzed deformations in a variety of tapered beams under loading using MATLAB. Also analyzed the heat flow through a power source with varying fin designs using MATLAB and designed an optimal model using Pro/Engineer.
