I spent my whole career in the field of telecommunications, beginning with Test Instruments and then moving through Cable TV hardware, Satellite data communications terminal equipment, Telephone network inter-office fiberoptic equipment (asynchronous and SONET), and then back to Cable TV as a consultant on Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial (HFC) network upgrades and expansions.Now I am retired and, to tell the truth, I want to relax. The field(s) that I have described were evolving so rapidly that I couldn't take a two-week vacation without having to spend at least one full day catching up on the latest technical developments when I came home. I'll be happy to talk to anyone about my experiences and give advice, if it might still be valid, but please, don't invite me to go back to that rat-race.
