Summer Engineering Intern
- CNC Data Collection: Utilised a CNC milling machine equipped with a comprehensive data acquisition rig (spindle speed, feed rate, temperature, power consumption etc.) to collect high-resolution time-series data. Rig uses a Siemens LOGO! to convert analogue data from current transducers to digital data on a scale of 0V - 10V that can be analysed and recorded. Fitted a vibration sensor as it is a key indicator in anomaly detection. - Developed CNC machine system documentation: Created a detailed technical schematic of the CNC milling machine and data acquisition rig, accurately representing data flow, sensor types, and signal transport. This documentation provides a clear reference for system understanding, troubleshooting, and future development. - Expanded web shop capabilities: Led the development and implementation of a Plasma Systems product line within the existing online web shop, encompassing products such as consumables, plasma power sources etc. Improved order processing efficiency by integrating product weight data directly into the platform, eliminating manual weight lookup and reducing order processing time. Mentored and managed another intern on webshop functionalities, its backend systems, and automation processes. Oversaw the upload of a product line to the web shop. - Implemented data-driven process optimisation: Developed and executed VBA macros to automate data entry and manipulation within Excel and the backend of the web shop for weights, products, pricing, product identification etc. - Assisted CNC Plasma Cutter retrofitting: Attended steel fabrication workshop to support the retrofitting of a 9x4m ESAB Plasma CNC cutter by assisting with machine calibration and sensor integration. This included overtravel sensors, torch break away sensor, torch height control etc.
