As a principal designer for Glantre Engineering, I design Entertainment Technolgy systems for theatres, arenas, schools, museums, hotels, and conference facilities. When I am not on a design burn, I do project engineering, technical purchasing, and a variety of other technical roles.In the past I have designed systems for cruise ships and worked extensively in the AV industry on corporate AV systems, training rooms, lecture halls, video conferencing, etc.I work on audio PA, stage lighting, house and work lighting, paging, assistive listening, video, projection, CCTV, cue lights, data and fibre networks, ring intercom, etc.I liaise closely with M&E consultants on electrical power distribution (BS7909 and BS7671), data networks, and Wifi.I specialise in control systems and custom electronics for solving integration problems in theatre environments including Stage Managers' Desks and bespoke paging systems.I do architectural and schematic drawings, and rack wiring diagrams. I design electronics hardware at component level and write embedded software. I design and draw up sheet metalwork and light metal fabrications.I have a working knowledge and understanding of rigging, over-stage engineering, curtain tracks and drapes.I am a member of the Institute of Sound Communications and Visual Engineers MInstSCVE and have a CSCS Field Engineer card.
