Having joined Wolverton Works from school in 1975, I have many years experience in the rail industry and have seen many changes at the site. My employment commenced working in the nationalised industry for BREL and later as the works was prepared for privatisation the site came under BRML. Since privatisation, the works has been owned by Railcare a partnership of Babcock & Siemens, later passing to Alstom and then Railcare again when owned by a business consortium. In July 2013 Railcare went into administration. On 26th August Knorr Bremse RailServices acquired the business and with investment in the employees and site rail vehicle maintenance and modernisation programmes are prospering at the facility.On 1st November 2018, the company changed name to Gemini Rail Services (UK) Limited, part of Gemini Rail Group.Progressing from an apprentice served fitter to a Production Engineer, before being appointed to Production Engineering Manager in 2011. In March 2015 I was appointed as Document & Change Control Manager in Engineering. With experience working with all trades and departments I provide support at both Wolverton & Springburn. Before being appointed as a manager, I worked as a Production Engineer for a number of years, where experience was gained in developing and introducing business systems used in our industry. Prior to privatisation I was an Industrial Engineering Technician team leader, who deputised for the department manager. During my career journey I have spent periods in progress chasing, workshop supervisory and training.My personality as determined by the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator is: Practical, realistic, matter-of-fact. Decisive, quickly move to implement decisions. Organize projects and people to get things done, focus on getting results in the most efficient way possible. Take care of routine details. Have a clear set of logical standards, systematically follow them and want others to also. Forceful in implementing their plans.
