The Biomedical Research Foundation since 1986 has endeavored to diversify the region by promoting a knowledge-based economy in northwest Louisiana. The Foundation recognizes the significant assets and resources that reside in the region that are vital to achieving this goal. The BRF strives to generate public support and collaboration in technology based economic development strategies, to provide infrastructure and resources to new or growing companies, and to support research at LSU Health Shreveport that may lead to marketable discoveries. The Foundation works closely with LSU Health Shreveport and other institutions by supporting research and enhancing healthcare resources, and by providing facilities and resources to new or growing technology or medical companies. In addition, the Foundation promotes the development of the region’s future creative workforce skilled in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) disciplines by raising private and public funds and assisting with project implementation of K-12 programs.
