I have retired from Kirklees - we will be again opening our garden under the National Garden Scheme in 2020. Elizabeth and I are now Assistant County Organisers for the National Garden Scheme Yorkshire Branch. We were surprised and delighted that our garden at Scape Lodge has been shortlisted by the English Garden Magazine and National Garden Scheme for the Nation’s Favourite Garden competition. We were chosen by a panel of experts having been nominated by some of our visitors. We are one of 30 gardens across the country, five in the North and the only one in Yorkshire and one of a few non-professional or stately homes listed. You can vote for us in the final at https://www.theenglishgarden.co.uk/ngs/. Everyone who votes is also entered into a prize draw to win a Danube cruise courtesy of Viking. The winning gardens will be featured in a future issue of the magazine.I am also a part-time associate at the Local Government Association contributing financial expertise to the Corporate Peer Challenge.
