About David Spence

My professional experience highlights:• Twenty years managerial experience, specialising in planning (strategic, corporate and business, including both financial and risk management components), relationship management, monitoring and policy advice. This amounts to significant experience in public sector financial processes and systems. My goal has been to develop and implement organisational strategies, policies, procedures and clear objectives. • work in agencies undergoing significant change and under extreme pressure, including operating as a change leader and implementing change initiatives. For example, my seven years as Planning Manager within the newly created Department of Corrections resulted in the successful implementation of significant organisational change. My last three years have been working on often sensitive relationship management and monitoring of the Accident Compensation Corporation. My goal has been to operate ethically and effectively at all times.• Stakeholder engagement experience, with Ministers, central agencies, senior public servants and within the community. This includes working in multi-cultural situations, including in a Treaty-based organisation. In short, I have interpersonal skills and an ability to work well with a range of people. My goal and operating style emphasises collaboration and collegiality.
