Bioreactor Process Development -Install, configure and adapt multiple bioreactor technologies, including the Allegro STR Bioreactor, PadReactor, New Brunswick Celligen 310, CerCell and Millipore Cell Ready for use with microcarrier cultures for the purposes of large-scale expansion of various cell types, including hMSC, Vero, MRC-5 and HEK 293.-Served as scientific lead on effort toward the development and commercialization of an ancillary bioreactor system component designed to harvest and separate cells from large scale microcarrier cultures in a sterile and fully-closed fashion. -Developed device utilized for the large-scale concentration and simultaneous removal of unwanted products including dissociation enzymes from large volumes (25 L+) of cell suspensions harvested from bioreactors. This would allow for the direct transfer of cells from bioreactor-to-bioreactor in a fully-closed system, dramatically reducing the time, labor and cost associated with this critical step in the large-scale expansion of cells.-Created novel method designed for the measurement of particulate matter within cell suspensions, fully complying with the United States Pharmacopeia (USP) Chapter 788 Guidelines for particulate matter in injections, an absolute requirement for cell therapy applications.Novel Microcarrier Development Program-Interact with senior management to develop strategies necessary to achieve company objectives. -Lead team of scientists on the design and implementation of experiments aimed at development of novel microcarrier surface chemistries. -Developed a portfolio of several prototype microcarriers, each with differing attributes based around charge and/or attachment factor(s). -Fully-validated manufacturing processes and release assays necessary for the large-scale production of mutltiple microcarrier products. -Co-inventor on multiple patent applications for cell culture-related technologies.
