Assistant Project Director within the Estates Department at Birmingham City University. Role consists of the delivery of the capital works programme and estates strategy of circa £250m investment programme over a 6 year period. Responsibility includes the design team consultant procurement via OJEU , main and subcontractor competitive tenders via OJEU, contract negotiations and legal appointment / contract preparation, lead University programme developer, maintaining the risk and opportunities register, gateway review and management of the design development and compliance with budget and brief through all RIBA stages. During the construction phase I act as Employers Agent and client and lead on the construction process including payment certifications, contract instructions, variations, programme reviews, early warnings, site quality inspections, snagging, handover process and defects. Both phase 1 and 2 have received national interest and award success by the embracement of BIM level 2 integration including BIM 360 FM use. I have convinced the University to adopt the Soft-landing’s process has which has become hugely successful and is now implemented on all new projects. The process starts from project inception through to 36 months post practical completion. I am also responsible for procuring the maintenance contracts through Softlandings including planned and reactive maintenance for building and M&E systems. My previous role before joining the University was as a Chartered M&E Engineer. I have gained a wealth of M&E knowledge including specialist ICT system design which has proven invaluable in the development of the estate and the technological changes needed to ensure the University building portfolio is operating both efficiently and is recognised as a market leader by its students and staff.

As a team leader and Associate I was responsible for the day to day management of a group of M&E engineers including specialists such as acoustics, fire, part L, ICT, public health engineers delivering a mixture of projects nationally. Typically projects included Higher Education, Secondary Education, residential, mixed use, MOD, commercial offices and leisure facilities. As project leader I ran a number of high profile projects such as Highbury Square and Neo Bankside working both clientside and on behalf of contractors. I was responsible for the overall project delivery including client liaison, staff resourcing, fee's, profitability and securing repeat business.

I was an Electrical Engineer working within a multidisciplinary team at Arup. My role involved the detail design of electrical services on numerous projects worldwide.
