I work as a consulting actuary in a global team which helps clients optimise the value of their insurance and risk financing strategies via the use of analytics. I work across a range of industries although have a particular focus on clients in the energy sector.Our role involves helping clients understand and identify their risk exposures, quantifying these exposures, and ultimately aiding clients make the most informed decision regarding the retention or transfer of these risks.A large part of my job involves working heavily with WTW's Captive and Insurance Management Practice, bringing actuarial modelling and its benefits to our client around the domiciles. In particular, I lead our actuarial (Pillar 1) Solvency II offering to captive clients.

Internal pensions risk management role, dealing with regulatory changes affecting both the pensions and banking aspects, and assessing and delivering risk mitigants to all form of pensions risk.Part of a small team sitting within Treasury, interfacing with senior management at a particularly interesting and turbulent time in the banking industry.

Broad consulting role which offered experience on both the traditional retirement side and also investment consulting.Retirement work included typical actuarial valuations and employee benefit design work. Corporate consulting work added M&A work, accounting, valuation negotiations, whilst investment work involved investment strategy design, involving anything from technical ALM analysis to implementing hedging programs.
