Joined the London based IT Shared Service team to deliver audits with both a national and international market scope. I led the development of an approach for planning audit cycles through mapping of audit cover to the COBIT 5.0 framework and rolled this out to the Global IT Audit team then applied the tools to develop annual audit plans and share with first line stakeholders, including Aviva Investors. I led the delivery of the IT and Systems validation activity in support of Aviva’s IMAP submission for Solvency II European wide regulation, which required liaison with our external auditors and global IT audit teams. I have also worked with our changing auditing methodology, piloting new techniques that provide an approach similar to Agile in its planning, delivery and interaction with senior stakeholders. Most recently I have been anditing parts of Aviva's Cloud migration programme.

Following the retirement if the IT Audit Director in September 2012, I took on the role of managing the remaining team of IT auditors in the planning, delivery and quality review of the annual programme of audits. My additional responsibilities include audit technology support for the entire internal audit team, including project managing key audit systems upgrade, penetration testing and rollout. I have also recently been involved in the user acceptance testing for our company wide Windows 7 desktop rollout.When I joined the team I was one of five IT auditors with the responsibility of delivering diverse IT audits across the business (UK and internationally); supporting business auditors; managing the audit relationship with key projects, utilising my Prince2 training; liaising with external auditors and managed service providers.In addition to my audit delivery responsibilities, I took a leading role in training, implementation, integration, rollout and support of Morgan Kai’s MKInsight audit support software and associated internal audit methodology changes.

Joined the Risk Management Services group (Coopers & Lybrand) within the Audit Practice as a Supervisor with responsibility for supervising systems and IT audits over infrastructure, operations and developments and providing acceptance testing quality assurance expertise.Promoted to Manager in 1998 with the responsibility for managing systems and IT audits with teams of 2 to 6 people, defining scope and budget and ensuring timely delivery of audit reports. Reporting directly to partners and senior members of the client team within banking, telecommunications, retail and technology sectors. In 2000, following the merger of Coopers & Lybrand with Price Waterhouse, transferred to Operational Risk Solutions as a testing expert focusing on consultancy for test management, planning and approach including project and change management. Negotiated the retention of 30% of original Systems Audit Manager responsibilities to ensure continued exposure to computer auditing.Clients Included: British Telecom, O2, Level 3 Communications, SBC Warburg, Charterhouse Bank, Amalgamated Metals, Marks and Spencer’s, NETA.Responsibilities taken on in addition to normal role:• Career development manager and mentor for a number of graduate recruits, helping them develop and progress through to successful promotion;• Ran tutor groups on training courses for new graduates into the audit practice, ensuring all my group achieved the course objectives and dealt with any personal or technical issue that arose.• Development of a marketable methodology for all aspects of traditional and e-business testing.

Joined Logica’s Defence and Civil Government Group as an analyst programmer and later specialised in acceptance testing, working closely with clients to ensure the system quality and compliance with technical and business specifications prior to delivery into the pre go live environment.Clients Included: Central Government; Galileo; Civil Aviation Authority; Merric, Sharp and Dome.Significant achievements included the delivery of a number of highly complex systems to clients, while working closely with both the in-house development team and the senior client team, to meet all quality assurance requirements.
