• Managed and developed with a team that worked on projects and enhancements to a web based party management system. The system allowed direct sales consultants to manage all aspects of their business. Major enhancements included theme shows (allowing consultants to choose what type of show they want to host) and an email wizard, which gave the client the ability to create their own custom email templates. All development used Java, Servlets, JSP, Hibernate and J2EE running Jboss with MS SQL Server as the backend.• Developed REST services passing JSON objects to interact with the client environment.• In addition, my team was responsible for all aspects of the production environment. Provided 24-hour support and maintenance for all application servers. Performed all code reviews, final testing, merges and deployments for anything related to production. •Developer on a portal conversion project for a large insurance company. Converted existing JSP/Servlet/Struts site into separate JSR 168 compliant portlets. Technologies used included Java 1.4, IBM WebSphere Portal Server 5.1, RAD 6.0, DB2, Struts 1.1 and JSP.•Led the development of a web-based Tank Car Accident Database project that consisted of converting 30 years of data stored in an Access database into an internet accessible application with querying capabilities. The application runs on WAS 6.0 using SQL Server 2000 and was developed RAD 6.0, Java 1.4.2, Struts 1.2.4, JSP and JSTL.•Ongoing maintenance of an online book selling application used mainly by schools and libraries. Development is in Java and JSP and uses WSAD 5.1.2 as the development environment with DB2 as the database. Recent enhancement included a “De-Dupe” functionality, which flags the search results of logged-in users indicating if that book belongs to the Schools collection of previously ordered books.

Client: Blue Cross Blue Shield Chicago, ILRole: Lead Developer• Lead developer for a series of web-based projects. All four projects are based on Java, JSP, and Struts using WSAD and deployed to WebSphere Application Server.• Managed all aspects of the projects, including requirements, design, coding, testing, deployment and maintenance.• Integrated with Interwoven as the content management system to display dynamic content. Created JSP Custom tags to display the content and to display lists of documents of a certain type.• Created a web based application for Senior Citizens to apply for Medicare Supplement coverage. Data was collected into an XML file which was then passed to an Actuate template to convert it to a pdf file and stream it back to the user.• Developed an online provider search application. Created the search criteria, SQL and online form that allowed the users to search by the providers location, specialty, name, etc. and get back a list of providers.

Client: Magnify, Inc. Chicago, IL Role: Lead Developer • Lead developer of a web-based data mining application that used Java, JSP, Tomcat, Struts, JSTL, and SQL Server 2000. Application was designed to report potential fraudulent cases for an insurance company.• Reports were displayed using Crystal Reports and had to integrate Crystal Server reports into the application. • Coordinated the design, coding, testing and implementation of the project.

Client: I-Many, Inc. Aurora, IL Role: Developer• Developed XML and Java based reports for a Government Pricing product to allow pharmaceutical companies to calculate various pricing formulas. • Embedded SQL queries into XML to populate the reports and designed custom Java classes to create HTML-based reports.

Client: ABN AMRO Chicago, IL Role: Lead Developer/Team Leader• Designed a user-customizable portal for customers of an online financial services application.• Installed and administered the application server and database using IBM WebSphere and Oracle. • Coded portal components using Java Server Pages, SilverStream Director, Struts, Tiles, and XML/XSL. Components included weather, stocks, news and company highlights.• Created a framework for the system that included the data access objects (DAO), a logging resource, a caching facility and several helper classes.• Enhanced and launched a financial services auto-enrollment application using Java, SilverStream ePortal, IBM WebSphere and Oracle. • Coordinated the development effort and updated existing code to production quality standards. • Fine-tuned the application’s performance by implementing caching methods and improving the database access.

Client: Carlson Marketing Rosemont, IL Role: Lead Web Developer• Maintained and enhanced a web-based human performance management software system using Java Servlets and SilverStream’s J2EE Application Server and Page Designer with Oracle as the backend.• Refactored SilverStream proprietary code into efficient and modular Java classes using well-known design patterns. • Created stored procedures in PL/SQL to process batch transactions that reduced processing time from over two hours to under five minutes.• Documented the functionality of the existing system while applying enhancements and bug fixes.• Coordinated development effort with offsite staff by assigning tasks, performing code reviews, and gathering requirement and technical documents.
