For 2 months I worked with the installation team from Vision Modular Systems on the 101 George Street Project, in Croydon. This gave me an insight into the fast pace nature of modular construction and the importance of Quality Assurance. Working on a high-rise construction site showed me the need for safe working procedures and the interaction between supervisors and workers. This project also exposed me to the systems required to keep track of multiple sub-contractors working on large construction sites.

My work as a swimming pool lifeguard has taught me about how to work effectively in a team through clear communication. Learning how to use the different skills that members of a team have is critical to make sure a task is completed to the correct standard. This is an ability that I can bring to my future career in civil engineering. Working as a lifeguard has also helped me to understand how to communicate with customers in what can sometimes be very stressful situations.

My work with Swim Safety gave me experience of working in a high pressure environment with a team of up to 100 people, all with different experience and backgrounds. Learning how to be an effective team player and carry out my individual tasks whilst also being aware of the work the rest of the team was doing is a key skill I developed during this job.
