ACMA Industries was a polyurethane foam manufacturer based in Upper Hutt before it was sold to the China based train manufacturing company KTK transport in 2018. ACMA specialised in the production of flame resistant foam formulations which it produced with a series of semi-automated machinery. Extensive engineering work went into the research and development of custom machinery used to produce the companies unique formulations. These machines utilised the latest ABB robotics combined with pneumatic systems in order to dramatically increase production efficiency and keep the factory running 24/7. Some of my responsibilities as engineering maintenance manager are listed below: • Ensure that all machines within the factory are performing to a high standard.• Determine methods of improving robotic movements to increase productivity and consistency.• Develop superior operation procedures and manage staff for optimal productivity.• Implement and standardise daily, weekly and monthly maintenance procedures.• Produce schematic drawings of machines which include lists of components and suppliers to anticipate any breakdowns.• Create stock take systems ensuring machinery related materials are always available.• Design, fabricate and install instruments that improve the productivity of the factory.• Troubleshoot broken machines using root cause analysis techniques to reduce risk of further breakdowns.
