With a background in Industrial Design across several industries, David been practicing business development for small to medium manufacturers for over 30 years. He founded Production Resources in 1993 as an umbrella for the portfolio of manufacturers the firm represents. The majority of manufacturers have been aboard for over 15 years, helping to ensure stability and technical competency for customers. The manufacturing base is composed of custom mechanical and electro-mechanical firms, covering prototyping, custom equipment, and small volume thru high volume production. Materials and applications include components in plastics, metals, and composites, as well as electro-mechanical assemblies to complete product builds. Robotics and automation are a strong part of the mix.David's expertise in design for manufacturing, while retaining design intent and product integrity, has earned him the respect of product development consultants, as well as corporate engineering teams. A philosophy that guide's David's approach is, "Every part will always seek the right manufacturing process. If the wrong process is chosen during the course of product development, it will always struggle to find the process that best fits the application." In manufacturing, a corollary to this premise is, "The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten." David has lectured on manufacturing processes to Industrial Design and Engineering students at Carnegie Mellon, Wentworth, MIT and Mass Art. He also offers custom presentations to Industrial Design and Engineering consultants to help broaden their knowledge of processes for their clients. He enjoys engaging with projects in early development at incubator labs in the Boston region hotbed of technology.David can be reached at (617) 448-5622 and david@productresources.com.
