I am born and raised in the bay area, growing up in San Francisco and Oakland. I went to college at UC Davis and studied African and Latin American history, Spanish, economics, sustainable agriculture, community development and international agriculture development. I lived in Cairo, Egypt for a year studying Arabic and history at the American University of Cairo. I also lived in Cordoba, Argentina for six months studying urban agriculture and food security. My work background has been mostly with non-profits centered around urban agriculture, school gardens and community development. I worked for a number of different organizations around the bay area in many different cities: San Francisco, Oakland, Hayward and Berkeley, I moved to Portland, Oregon in 2008 and have worked for Oregon State Cooperative Extension teaching and coordinating an organic gardening certificate program and landscaping for a private business. In 2010 I started my current job as an employee of Metropolitan Family Service working as a SUN (Schools Uniting Communities) site manager at Oliver elementary school in East Portland.
