Development Worker: Are You Dancing? Remembering Limerick'S Dance Halls
In 2012 Creative Communities (formerly Limerick City Community Arts Group) launched as a network of people living and working in Limerick City communities to further advance community arts projects in the City. Creative Communities was supported by PAUL Partnership to successfully apply for City of Culture funding for a major community arts project in the city in 2014. The Are You Dancing? Project emerged as a key project of interest to Creative Communities to document the social history of the Dance Hall era (1950/60s/70s) and capture the personal memories of those that attended. This project will have a number of different elements, public reminiscence sessions, photographic exhibition and a large scale event as part of the City of Culture 2014 programmePromotion:• Identifying relevant community groups and individuals throughout the city and making ensuring participation in the project • Meeting with community groups and individuals to outline the project and agree timelinesPlanning:• Organising and facilitating project reminiscence sessions in a city wide basis • Identifying potential spaces around the city that are former dance halls and negotiating possible use for dance displaysImplementation:• Organising visual memorabilia for the overall event• Organising promotion and publicity of events• Organising and management of the overall Are You Dancing? events as part of City of Culture 2014 Monitoring & Reporting:• Monitoring budget spend• Working with the Creative Communities and informing the network of project progress • Preparing reports to funders • Preparing reports on project completion

Fed into Limerick City of Learning steering committee and compiled and presented post-festival evaluation report to committee with the Learning Facilitator. Sat on festival event and PR sub-committees. Key role in the organisation of Showcase Learners Market in Thomond Park as part of learning festival.
