Internship in which I was heading a project involving the plating for E. coli and Enterococcus from water samples taken on the Presque Isle State Park beaches. The project is also testing the use of qPCR and IMS-ATP as detection devices in water quality. Assisted on an EPA grant testing nitrogen and phosphorus levels in water samples.Duties: Collected water samples, plated for E. coli and Enterococcus, created media for plating, sterilization of equipment, ran qPCR, quantified DNA for standards,exctration of bacterial DNA.

Summer internship in which I conducted water quality research on Presque Isle Beaches involving E. coli levels in relationship to wave height and turbidity.Duties: Collected water, plated for E.coli, created media, sterilized equipment, tested turbidity of water.

Was involved in a research project in a developmental biology lab using Zebrafish as a study organism. Developed a protocol for raising Zebrafish with a higher success rate in order to allow for transgenic lines to be established. Duties: Maintained fish tanks, researched current protocols, created paramecium cultures, maintained transgenic lines.
