Responsible for all aspects of Rotating Machine Electrical Engineering; design, testing, condition monitoring & site service support. Being part of the service industry provides exposure to a great variety of machine types, Synchronous, Asynchronous, PMG & DC, deployed as Motors, Generators, Synchronous Condensers and excitation systems. It also means I have had opportunity to work on machine designs from most of the major OEMs and on machines build from as early as 1951. Both on legacy OEM machines, English Electric, AEI, GEC, for which Quartzelec holds IP and archives as well as other brands. Whilst in this role at Quartzelec I have provided technical leadership to projects ranging from the specification, design & build of motors for industrial applications as well as power generators from 40 pole Hydros, through to 2 pole turbos.

Project lead and Design of large rotating machines. Synchronous generators (up to 20MW, 15kV) for Power, Oil & Gas, Industry & Marine applications. Previous experience includes design and test of High Temperature Superconducting (HTS) motors, generators, cryogenic & vacuum systems. Responsible for Insulation Coordination studies for large HVDC (320kV, 1GW) projects.
