I'm an experienced researcher, teacher, and manager. I've performed substantial novel scientific work in astrophysics, employing translatable skills in data analysis, data science, programming, and development of scientific theories. I was principle investigator on numerous successful grants.I also have substantial teaching experience, and am highly skilled in explaining complex and technical concepts at every level from elementary school students to college students to PhD professionals in my field. I was a co-organizer for a scientific talk series for the public, and an invited speaker for a scientific talk at the World Science Fiction Convention.I have experience managing the work of others, including being president of my university's Faculty Organization, directing the work of nearly 800 faculty in working with university leadership, policy development, and budget planning. This also involved extensive governing board relations work.
