The primary purpose of this position was to oversee and manage utility relocations as it relates to those assigned STIP projects within a specific region of the state. This work involved the acquisition of Utility Relocation Agreements with utility owners and acquiring Encroachment Agreements (permits for occupancy on highway right of way) from utility owners due to highway construction projects. Criteria for these agreements requires a working knowledge of all policies, regulations, and engineering standards set forth by the Federal Highway Administration, the Department of Transportation, Division of Highways, the North Carolina General Statutes and SAP processes related to utility relocations. This position implemented advanced utility engineering criteria and innovative construction methods while adhering to all environmental regulations and roadway design standards. This was an upper level of Utility Coordination work requiring the independent application of professional techniques and standards. In addition, this position was required to utilize project scoping information and the oracle network to establish the monitoring and distribution of work assignments, applicable schedules, utility contacts, utility conflict impacts, and utility revisions. This position also provides utility coordination training and technical support to other Utility Agents and Utility Agent Trainees in the work Unit.

Utility Coordination for Summit Design contractor to the NCDOT Division 9. Utility coordination for roadway and bridge replacement projects. This position took the project for the entire utility coordination process from design through construction. It entailed meeting with multiple utilities, identifying potential utility conflicts due to roadway/bridge improvements, resolving those conflicts, commenting on schedule, and summarizing these findings to the client. Knowledge of construction methods for both the utilities as well as the infrastructure contractor is a benefit.
