198th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion

Primary Officer over Strategic Plans and Policy for the statewide joint staff. Duties involve preparation and publication of joint future strategic plans, execution of positions regarding international affairs issues, oversight of mobilization planning, evaluation of civilian personnel requirements, and enhancement of joint force professional development. Principal advisor to the Adjutant General (two-star) and Chief of the Joint Staff (one-star) for providing organizational awareness, leadership, oversight, compliance support, analysis, guidance, interpretation, and recommendations on matters regarding joint policy for the state and support of regional and global Joint, Interagency, Interdepartmental and Multinational (JIIM) activities. Draft, review, and provide input/analysis on proposed and existing policies, position or information papers, and other professional work product materials. Senior strategic and long-range planner and consultant responsible for developing the view of the future and implementing detailed strategic policy, plans, initiatives, and concepts. Prepare briefings, information papers, summaries, reports, and correspondence and distributes command policy and guidance on the joint strategic planning process, to ensure plan synchronization. Provide oversight on the coordination and administration of activities and programs integrating military and non-military agencies (CIV-MIL) and international programs, including international State Partnership Program. Deputy Commander and Executive Officer for over 500 service member joint military element constituting Task Force Illini in support of Operation Capitol Response II (OCR2) in Washington, DC. Lead staff operations and served as second in command for completing this unique and complex mission. Coordinated and contributed to multiple Illinois congressional delegation engagements. Conducted continuous assessment, analysis, and discernment of daily orders from higher and situational changes to solve problems, modify activities and enhance responses. Lead planning for time-phased deployment and re-deployment movement and OCR2 logistics support actions and requirements. Provided logistics expertise, assessments, and recommendations for building efficiency and resiliency among capabilities supporting diverse higher level Task Force sourced from over a dozen different states.

Primary strategic planner for future operations, including facility construction/renovation, personnel and equipment allocations, policy and processes development, and development and recommendation of potential course of action options to general officers and Chief of Staff through coordination with other high-level staff.
