• Provide Safety and Health advice in accordance with OHS Legislation, Worksafe, and Australian Standards to all areas of the University (approx. 3500 full time staff)• Develop and implement emergency response and evacuation procedures for all facilities• Provide training and instruction to all managers and supervisors in WHS policy and legislation including instruction on Australia wide OSH Harmonisation Legislation• Creation of standard operating procedures for hazardous machinery, plant and chemical use• Investigation of incidents, hazards and near misses• Provide training in automated external defibrillator use• Provide fire extinguisher training• Compilation and analysis of statistics, with comparison to industry standards and best practice• Review and update of university emergency response and disaster recovery plans• Liaison with Worksafe and other government agencies• Co-ordination of Safety Representatives and Safety Officers training • Return to work assistance and guidance for injured staff• Work with management teams to develop and maintain risk registers

• Supervision of 5 permanent full time positions and 5 casual staff• Departmental Safety Officer for Library, BITS, IGS and Student Systemso Development, review and updating of all safety procedures across supported departmentso Training and instruction of staff with regard to OSH requirementso Creation and upkeep of Disaster Recovery Plans for supported departmentso Work with management team to develop and maintain Risk Registero Incident, near miss and hazard investigationo Co-ordination of building inspections by safety representatives and external organisationso Building Warden for Reid Library (4 stories with 12,000sqm floor space)o Investigation and procurement of relevant safety equipment • Human resources management, including hiring, training, discipline• Financial records management, purchasing, invoicing, reconcilliation• University Managers’ Group Representative to UWA Safety Committeeo Provide OSH information and training to managers and supervisors across the University• Space Planning Officer o Provide space planning options and guidelines for 6 library sites, 2 storage warehouses, Information Technology Services, Audio Visual Workshops, and multiple data centres across UWA.o Provide to Executive options and plans for reorganisation and rearrangement of furniture and internal structures as required.o Detailed familiarity with applicable OSH and BCA requirements in regard to all space planning projects.• Liaise with Campus Management and external contractors for all works and maintenance within supported departments• Swipe card security authorisation to all Library, BITS and IGS sites across University.
